Council update on Spinning Point stopping up order

Rossendale Council has released a further update on discussions around the stopping up order needed for the Spinning Point development.

 Councillor Alyson Barnes, Leader of the Council, said:  

“I am very pleased to say we are making really positive progress with the Royal Mail on the stopping up order. I have actively been seeking to meet with the chief executive of Royal Mail to thrash out a deal and I am pleased to report we have nearly reached a compromise which all parties can agree.

Planning permission granted for next phase of Spinning Point

Rossendale Borough Council has granted planning permission for Phase two of the Spinning Point development.

A full planning application, for the redevelopment of the former Valley Centre site, was submitted by Rossendale Borough Council and Barnfield Investment Properties in December 2017.

Significant community consultation has taken place since December, with members of the public encouraged to view and comment on the proposals during three public information events, a’Facebook Live’ consultation; and presentations to local groups, Rawtenstall Chamber of Commerce and Rossendale Civic Trust.

Exciting plans for next phase of Spinning Point released

Exciting plans on the future of Rawtenstall town centre have been released, which include new leisure and retail units, a hotel and attractive public space.

Following a planning application submission by Rossendale Borough Council and Barnfield Investment Properties in December 2017, the design team has enhanced the originally submitted scheme to address comments from consultees, including Historic England and local individuals.

Council planning team up for prestigious national award

Rossendale Council’s planning team has been shortlisted for the Local Authority Team of the Year at the United Kingdom and Ireland’s most prestigious planning awards – becoming one of only five local authority teams in the country to do so.

The Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry.

Statement from Together Housing on Spinning Point

Rumours have been circulating that Together Housing are not taking all the space in the town hall as part of the Spinning Point Phase One.

Together Housing has released the following statement to reassure residents.

New date added for you to have your say on Rawtenstall’s future

A new date has been added for residents to get a glimpse of the future of Rawtenstall town centre.

The Rossendale Together Barnfield (RTB) Partnership are seeking residents’ views on the next phase of the Spinning Point development.

Two events have already been held and around 40 people attended to see officers.
