Tenders are sought for a partner to refurbish and run Rawtenstall Market.
Rossendale Council is advertising the tender which aims to maintain the traditional market, fund an extensive refurbishment and develop new, attractive offers such a specialist events.
This will be done in partnership with existing traders to attract more shoppers to the market and increase business for everyone.
The deadline for submissions is noon on September 17 and an open information session and tour of the market will take place from 9.30am to 12.30pm on July 12 for interested parties. The lease is expected to commence in early 2019 and last for a minimum of 25 years.
The current market opened in 1906 and has great produce and great traders but the council recognises that it could be better. Learning from other markets which have been successful, we want to work with a private sector partner to bring in the capital to improve the building and the space.
