Tourism boost as visitor numbers rise in Rossendale

The leisure and tourism industry is booming across Rossendale as the number of people visiting the borough has risen.

1.5 million visits were made to Rossendale’s various attractions in 2018, according to new statistics released by Marketing Lancashire. This was up 4.2 per cent from 2017.

The results have been driven by a rise of 4.6 per cent in day visitors, who spent £63.5 million, 8.7 per cent more last year.

New CGI image of Bacup public realm scheme released

A new computer generated image of what Bacup town centre could like in the future has been released.

The image shows what the proposed public realm improvement scheme for St James Square will look like from the view of a pedestrian.

The Bacup Townscape Heritage Initiative is a £2m investment in the town to restore its historic character.

New blog: On the hills – Cribden Up & Over

Cribden Hill hides in plain sight. It’s a big lump that looks down upon the west end of the Rossendale valleys.  You can’t miss it.  But loads of people do.

Where is it?

It lies between Rawtenstall and Haslingden. It’s the hill that has Ski Rossendale on its flank, Whitaker Park on its skirt and the Halo on its side.

Mayor and Leader join locals at the launch of new tourism work for Haslingden

The Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Granville Morris joined the leader of Rossendale Council, Cllr Alyson Barnes and members of Haslingden Task Force for the launch of the new Haslingden branding, website and Town Trail on Tuesday 14th March at Haslingden Library.

Event: Launch of new Haslingden branding and website Tuesday 14 March

Working with design company Osprey, Haslingden Task Force has developed a branding and website for the town with the strapline ‘Small Town Big Heart’ aimed at encouraging visitors to the town.  The website www.visithaslingden.com  and promotional materials including a flyer and town trail, will be launched on Tuesday 14th March at 4pm at Haslingden Library.

The Flying Scotsman Returns to Rawtenstall

Rossendale residents are in for a locomotive treat this week as the famous Flying Scotsman returns to the East Lancashire Railway as part of the Scotsman In Steam event. 

The Flying Scotsman visited Rawtenstall in January this year, following its £4.2m restoration at Riley and Sons Ltd in Bury, to huge crowds.
