A Rossendale play area is set to officially open after undergoing an £80k transformation.
The equipment at Moorlands play area in Stubbylee Park has been upgraded to include a jungle climber, five-way swing, scooter roundabout, music cottage, wizard’s hideaway and a cradle seat swing.
Rossendale Council worked with Bacup Pride to secure the funding from Viridor Credits Environmental Company and Lancashire Environmental Fund.
And Bacup Pride and the Friends of Stubbylee Park will be hosting an official opening at the play area on Thursday, August 29th at 2pm.
The Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Barbara Ashworth, will lead the ceremony.
Everyone is invited with cold drinks and biscuits provided.
Councillor Jackie Oakes, Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Economic Development, said:
The playground looks absolutely wonderful and already seems popular with families. It’s a great addition to an already thriving park and the official opening will be a great way to round off this fantastic project.
Cllr Andrew Walmsley, Portfolio Holder for Resources and Treasurer of Bacup Pride, said:
This has been an excellent project and the result of some fantastic partnership working. We were so pleased to be able to secure the funding and create this asset that will be used by local people for years to come. I can’t wait for the official opening later this month.
