Rossendale Borough Council and Bright Futures Early Learning have signed the final lease agreements which will allow building work to begin on the plot 1 site at Futures Park in Bacup.
Construction is planned to start this month to build the new centre which will provide nursery and childcare provision for 0 to 4-year olds.
Due to open in September 2021, this latest Bright Futures development aims to boost availability of full-time childcare places across east Rossendale.
Alyson Barnes, Leader of Rossendale Borough Council, said: “It is great news that work can finally begin onsite. There is a significant need for nursery provision across east Rossendale and we’re extremely happy that Bright Futures Early Learning have chosen to base their next centre here.”
The centre will provide day care and education provision for early years bringing much needed additional services to the east of Rossendale.
This will be the second nursery facility provided by Bright Futures, which is a not-for-profit social enterprise. The existing nursery based in Rawtenstall, opened in 2012 and was rated outstanding by Ofsted in 2013 and 2020.
Martin Kirk, Chair of Trustees for Bright Futures, said: “Our organisation is now looking forward to the new centre opening. We have had lots of interest and enquiries in the last couple of months and are already receiving firm bookings for places.”
The new building will also offer separate multi-purpose rooms for educational and activity sessions focused on providing wider support to local families and young children.
Martin added: “We are also keen to start working with local organisations to explore ideas about what we can jointly develop in the new centre and would encourage people to contact us if they’d like more information.”
